We Need A Physician!

There are 900 SBC churches a year closing their doors. And we have a high percentage of our churches stagnant or in decline. Below is a list of a few things that were gleaned from a recent meeting with SBC leaders dealing with evangelism and decline in baptisms in churches:

1. Any church can and will die if it does not reach the next generation.

2. A growing number of churches no longer have Vacation Bible School. I was amazed. The reason most often given is the church does not have enough workers.

3. Church revitalization is a critical need. There are several ways to go at this. But the key is dying churches must admit they are in critical condition before any plan can be attempted. This is a tough step.

4. Church planting is a must in our cities.

5. Cooperation among churches needs to grow. Healthy churches helping struggling churches is a big challenge. It is not an easy task but is often fruitful.

6. The pastor is key. If a church is going to reach people, it begins with the pastor. If his heart is not on reaching souls for Christ, neither will the church.

May God send revival to our nation, but it must first of all begin in our churches!

2nd Ammendment Rights

Gun rights and gun control is currently a hot topic in America. The 2nd Amendment of the Constitution is a mere twenty-seven words. It is straight forward. I do not see how it cannot be understood.

“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

The second amendment is not about hunting. It has nothing to do with how many shells it takes to kill a deer. The amendment is about "We The People" being able to defend ourselves when needed.

The Founders saw the fear of arms being in the hands of the government alone and the people having no power to defend themselves if need be. They did not want the right of the people to bear arms to be infringed.

Now, the issue of permits, mental health, and who can own what is a great dialogue to have. However, when the government infringes on the rights of the people, we are headed down a road that is very dangerous in the long run.
